MARRIAGE REQUIREMENTS

Getting married in St. Vincent & The Grenadines is relatively easy.  Of course you MUST follow the guidelines of the country as stated by their laws.  The law states that you must be on the island for at least one full day before a marriage ceremony (civil or church) can take place.  Every member of the party who will officiate at your wedding must be on the island at least one day also.

MARRIAGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Licence costs US$185.00 and US$7.00 stamps for licence.
  • Licence is issued in one day.
  • Present original birth certificates or valid passports of both applicants.
  • If parties are non-nationals present valid passport(s), foreign birth certificates are not accepted.
  • If either parties were married before, please present both original and copy of death certificates or decree absolute where necessary (divorce papers).
  • Licence is valid for three months from date of issue.

PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING REGISTRAR’S CERTIFICATE/LICENCE

  • Licence costs US$5.52 for stamps which can be purchased at the Registry.
  • Present original birth certificates or valid passports, foreign birth certificates are not accepted.
  • If person(s) are non-nationals, present valid passports, foreign birth certificates are not accepted.
  • Notice is posted for seven (7) consecutive days on the notice board at the Registry Court House.
  • If either parties wee married before, please present original and copy of Decree Absolute (Divorce Papers) or in the case of death of former spouse, present original and copy and death certificate.
  • Licence is valid for three months from date of issue.
